| Israel is the Jewish State, and it is located in the Middle East. Hebrew is the language of the Jews and Arabic is the language of the Middle East. Therefore, to show Israel is Jewish -- we have Hebrew. To show Israel belongs in the Middle East -- we have Arabic. All documents, street signs, and offical marquees should be in both languages. Add English for the sake of the internationals, but do not make it an official language. Hebrew and Arabic should both be mandatory subjects in all schools. Also, Russian, Amharic, French, or whatever other language of whatever other major Aliyah should not be an official language. If these are Jews, then Hebrew is their language. If they can not deal with this then they should go back where they came from. Speakers of other languages should be respected and accomodated, but their languages should not be made official. |
