The language of the state of Israel is *not* the language of the Bible. We are talking here about a fictive language, invented by Eliezer Ben Yehuda, consisting of elements of classical Hebrew mixed with other European languages and Arabic.
Further: why isn`t Yiddish recognized as an official language? A very sizable number of people here speak Yiddish as a primary language. I guess the secular Zionist establishment doesn`t really like that fact (they did everything they could to erase and destroy the Yiddish language).
Arabic should definitely be an official language also, since more than 20% (significantly more than 1 million) of all Israelis have Arabic as their primary language. |
