| Under Turkish law it was relatively easy to seize state land. The Greek Orthodox church, with Russian funding was able to seize large plots of land in the Jerusalem area. One case was the so called Muristan, a crusader ruin given as a present to the German Government in 1910. while the Lutherans were busy building a church in one corner, the Greeks seized the rest. |
