In Israel, one votes for a party - not for individual representatives. MK`s only get into the Knesset by virtue of being on a party list. So if they no longer feel part of that party, they should be have the option of leaving and their positions on the list replaced.

They should *not* be able to form a new party within the current Knesset.

Anyone agree? Why doesn`t it actually work this way?
