| How can Obama say with certainty that invading Iraq strengthened Iran. Weapon technology will inevitably fall into the hands of those who desperately desire it. The point that Obama evades is, what would have happened if Bush had not taken the decision to invade Iraq? Would the war, instead of being fought in the streets of Baghdad, today be taking place on the streets of New York. I believe the US intervention in Iraq placed it at the epicentre of the action, which was inevitable, whether the US invaded or not. The weakening of Al Quaida and for that matter Iran lies in its foremost obligation, which is to engage the enemy on its home territory. If this policy is carried through with conviction and determination it will win the day. Failing this, the alternative for the west, will lie in the hands of Osama not Obama.. |
