While Ive always thought it would be a good idea to talk to adversaries,it isnt for everyone.I think in Obamas case its a bad idea.
It would put him in a situation of either negotiating with them or threatening them.Both ideas are bad for an American President because it allows no leeway and he could find himself in a trap he cannot get out of.
Clinton though thinks that sending emissaries were the best idea and so do I,that way the President can distance him or herself so decisions can be made from afar.
Especially in Obama`s case and with all good intentions he may or may not have the smarts but he certainly doesnt have the credentials to take on such a huge gamble that could have such dire consequences.
It is a bad idea from a good idealist. |
