The lesson from birthright is that if you offer quality, attractive programs at a low-cost, people will come. The problem with birthright is that most of the organizers give such a watered-down view of Judaism that the participants walk away with little besides a good feeling. If we are putting millions of dollars into these programs we should maximize the opportunity to get them to think seriously about the priviledges and obligations of belonging to the Jewish people.
