This is really sloppy reporting. I was at the conference today and Livni`s logic is reported here in a completely distorted way. In fact what she said would be more accurately reported (although still not exact) by turning around the order of the phrases used in the headline and article:
Palestinians will stop using the word `nakba` when they celebrate independence
and
Palestinians will be able to erase the word "nakba" or catastrophe from their lexicon on the same day that they celebrate their independence day.
This is a really shameful mistake. What was a call for positive action has been turned provacative and inflamatory. |
