6 years after declared by US/Quartet, neither Fatah nor Hamas regimes have accepted 2-State solution and remain in their own ways committed to the destruction of Israel, as well as a threat to stability of Egypt & Jordan.
What can Israel do to secure its existence as well as stabilize Mideast?
- Gaza: May have to be militarily reoccupied and purged of Hamas tyranny. Then under Israeli-Western-Egyptian supervision, a peace-and-prosperity oriented Singapore/Dubai-like Arab state could emerge as a new industrial/commercial/logistic hub on the Mediterranean.
- W.Bank: In light of more complex geopolitics and demographics, lasting settlement might only be achieved with parts of W.Bank federated with Jordan; safeguarding security and settlements for Israel, demographics for Arabs, holy sites for both.
Any further Fatah/Hamas "Palestinism" on narrow sliver will only bring more war, bloodshed and misery - not hoped-for peace! |
