Far from claiming "nothing to apologize for" your fellow Polish intellectuals (who surely qualify as persons "with any knowledge") rightly urge that Poles should not be beyond introspection. See 3/8/87 NYT Article ("DEBATE OVER HOLOCAUST STIRS PASSIONS IN POLAND"):
