| Those of us whose parents or grandparents spoke Yiddish to us (like Mexi) have the warmest feelings toward that language. Of course, like all languages, it had its coarse and vulgar aspect. But to say it "belongs in the dustbin" is uncalled for. It is destined, sadly, to disappear, but if I could only go back to a place where my grandparents could speak to me in Yiddish again, I`d go. |
