I read about the choices of the jews to go somewhere else than Israel after WWII. Those who did not emigrate to the US before or during the war, were caught in Europe and sent to concentration camps simply because they were jews or their mother or their grand mother was. Their propriety were seized or vandalised by neighbors or government officials, you remember they left with a suitcase. When the war was finished, the few that escaped did not know where to go, no money, no family, no more friends, they found closed doors almost everywhere, plus how confident would you feel returning to a place you know had sent you to a concentration camp. Israel took care of them, boats took them there to start a new life and they did. Now for the jews coming from arabic countries, no one leave the place where they lived for generations if it`s not for a good cause. They were persecutions, killings in the street, expropriations, jews again left with nothing but a suitcase and Israel welcomed them
