I gave a ride a couple of months ago to a gentleman from Beit Jalla who was standing at the hitchhiking post in Gilo where Hwy 60 goes south to Hebron.
We talked in Hebrew, Arabic and English, and for the 5 minutes it took to get to the checkpoint where I dropped him off, he did nothing but complain about how the radical Muslims are forcing the Christians out of the 3 towns (Bethlehem, Beit Jalla and Beit Sahur).
Although I`m a supporter of the 2-state solution, I`m having my doubts as to the viability of a future Palestinian state for its own citizens. While there is lots of discussion about racism in Israel and by Israel, there`s almost no talk about Palestinian racist policies.
It`s not just that a future Palestine will invoke ethnic cleansing to get rid of any Jews (everybody likes to forget that Jews have lived in Hebron and other places longer than Muslims), but nobody wants to address the issue of Hamas wanting to get rid of the Palestinian Christians.
