When two sides fight against each other, take prisoners, then make a swap after negotiations, usually part of a cessation of violence.
In this swap, Israel released many Arab prisoners. Today, the prisoners you speak of are not entitled to this right:
1) they STILL act violently against Israel and her people, indicating that any peace deal in the past is still not, and usually was not, upheld by their side. They insist on destroying Israel and that in itself is grounds for non-release. 2) the Arabs released back then were part of a sovereign country, Pals are not. Pal areas are still administered by Israel, per Geneva Accord, and therefore she can arrest individuals. Once Palis lay down their arms and really work towards a State, prisoner releases can begin, but ONLY when they accept a final agreement, not this shody "truce" crap from Hamas. |
