I have been following Israeli politics for a long, long, time.
The Revisionist Right came to power in the late 1970s based upon two points, that the Labor government had been caught napping in 1973, and that it was totally corrupt.
Now, 30 years later the fact is that the Revisionists have lost two wars against Lebanon - the weakest nation Israel ever confronted - and is incredibly more corrupt than the Labor government 30 years ago.
What to learn of this?
Damned if I know, it will depend upon the Israeli voters.
My bet would be that they go for the massive corruption and incompetence of Likud.
The other option seems to be the corruption and incompetence of Labor, which is only a bit less incompetent and corrupt.
Any other possibilities? |
