The Palestinians in 1947-1948 left their homes for a variety of reasons. The wealthy Arabs left in anticipation of war;many responded to their leaders` calls to get out of the way of the advancing Arab armies efforts to destroy the new state of Israel;some were expelled by Jewish forces;most fled to avoid being caught in the crossfire of battle.Had the Arabs accepted the 1947 UN resolution, not a single Palestinian would have become a refugee, and an Arab state would now exist along side Israel.
