Yoav Stern, Haaretz Correspondent: Minister Majadele: Israel losing control over Arab sector's youth
Talkback
Title:Democracy has its Duties and Rights
Name:Buzaglow
City: State:
It is an unfortunate happening among the reprensatives of the Arab Israeli citizens that prevent them from taking part of the democratic process. In the heart of such a process you are presumed to work within the State laws that govern everyone of us, Israeli Jews or Arabs.
The problem is that there is a mixup between criticism and enmity,
Yes, you have to criticise all the shortcomings of the State Apparatus, but you cannot give the impression that you don`t want to be part, full part part, participant of the country, the democracy, with all its warts that is Israel.
I, you, all of us ask and demand respect from the establishment, but when I, you, show lack of respect how can I in turn demand for same.
The problem of poverty is not restrivted to the Israeli Arab sector, it is spread more than equaly among the Jewish sector, the Osthodox as well as the secular, on the same plane as the Israli Arabs.
We are all in the same boat, but we cannot ask for participation when the leaders of that community exit himself from any duty for adherence to the Israeli State.
There is no democratic or otherwise whose own citizens wants the cake and eat it too: to be no part of such a State and yet demands all the privileges.
More foods for thought...
