Jews live in peace and harmony in the U.S. If Palestinians were very similar to Americans (or for that matter, to Russian immigrants to Israel), Mr. al-Qattan utopian view would have merit.
Unfortunately, that is not the case, and any amount of wishful thinking will not make it so. Making one country of the west bank and Gaza together with Israel would be an utter folly, and a disaster for both Israelis and Palestinians.
Perhaps after living side by side for a 100 years in peace, and with no terror, religious fanatics and constant friction, it will be possible.
At this point though, any sane Israeli and Palestinian should object to this idea as vehemently as possible. |
