If you look at the aid that goes to the Palestinians from international governments and groups almost all of it comes from western states in Europe or the United States. The oil wealth in the Gulf States like Saudi Arabia or UAE represents a paltry amount, and the only reason they give anything is to say they did something.
For them Israel is the perfect scapegoat to distract their own population and the more miserable the Palestinians are the better it is for them.
The Gulf States could end the Arab/Israeli conflict in a few weeks if they really wanted to. The fact that they do not only furthers this point. |
