| The first Durban conference was supposed to be South Africa`s, and all of black Africa`s, chance to become a major player on the world diplomatic stage. When the Arabs hijacked the conference and turned it into a fascist hate-fest, African hopes were dashed. This lead to some bitter feelings on the part of Africans towards the Arab world. The wounds have never fully healed. Of course, little things like the Darfur genocide have only made the wounds deeper. |
