This is not about international law stupid! Otherwise there would be international pressure on Israel regarding its alleged nuclear program. Thia is about realpolitik. Ask the Saudis who they are more afraid of, Israel or Iran? Also since when have the Iranians ever have to defend themselves against Israel?
Strictly speaking it is not against international law for a country to develop its own nuclear arsenal. It is against international law to assist other countries in that development. Yes Israel does whatever is convenient for itself as most countries do. This is the essence of realpolitik. It is the western worlds interest that Iran should not be a nuclear power. Again this is not a legal interest but one of survival. |
