| The S`fardim of the Middle Ages have always been more open-minded than the close-minded Ashkenazim to the North of them - who became more and more obscurantist, especially after the Crusades. The S`fardim were open to hadash, studied the sciences,created poetry and saved the Hebrew language from corruption through their copilation and grammar and dictionaries. They deteriorated after the expulsion form Spain but we owe them much ! David |
