| The quote from the Chasam Sofer was accurate. He did say that given the waves of assimmilation, any innovation in those circumstances is a Torah prohibition. If you read the article again you will note that Rabbi Yosef is credited for being less stringent. Sephardim generally have been less obsessed with being stringent to counteract Reform and Liberal Judaism. |
