| It seems obvious that Syria has a plan, which is shared with Iran, Hizbollah, and Hamas in which they will all retaliate at one time. This makes much more sense than for Syria to instigate a solo war with Israel. There is safety (relative safety) in numbers. Certainly the bright people here will recognize that Israel must attack the Iranian nuclear facilities before Iran has an opportunity to make a bomb. This will give Iran a free shot at Israel, since the right of self defense is recognized throughout the world. Syria has already promised retaliation for the Israeli attack of a few months ago. In a way, the Iranian nuclear program can be seen as bait and everybody knows how easily baited Israel is. If Iran were to make a first strike upon Israel, then Iran would be invaded and go the route of Iraq, but if Israel struck first.... that is the dream scenario for Iran. Syria is a key to the upcoming war and Israel must neutralize Syria, either through a prior war or peace. |
