For those Israelis who think that Olmert would actually return the Golan, don`t be concerned. Even if there was a peace agreement with Syria which called for the return of the Golan, it would go something like this:
Syria must agree to renounce Hizbollah and Hamas and cease all support immediately. Syria must play no role in Lebanese politics or in influencing Lebanese factions. Syria must break all military ties with Iran and must remain neutral in the event of Israel/Iran hostilities. Syria must renounce all nuclear aspirations.
In exchange for this, if Israel finds no fault in Syrias efforts, the Golan will be returned to Syria after 10 years. |
