Israel has a date with Iran. They will attack Irans nuclear facilities sometime within the next two years. In order to lessen the suicidal aspect of this attack, it is incumbent upon Israel to attempt to strip away Irans allies who might otherwise play a role in the upcoming war. This means that Syria, Hizbollah, and Hamas must be dealt with, either by making a reliable peace with Israel or by being attacked by Israel in a decisive battle. Israel has been flip flopping back and fourth between war and peace with Syria, sometimes changing tactics from week to week. If there is actually a reliable peace with Syria, with American oversight, this would be a great victory for Israel. It would cost Israel the Golan, but would also put Hizbollah in jeopardy. It is too early to predict if Israel must attack Hizbollah, but it seems likely. Israel might even get American support if it was considered part of the "peace process".
