| The Middle East is such a colourful place. First we have Israels 80 year old spy being charged with passing secrets. All this while countless Nazis that were admitted to the U.S. to help the Space Program and nuclear programs were given freedom. Nazis with blood on their hands. Then we have the Syrians suddenly dropping their tough talk and agreeing that they will take peace with Israel in return for the Golan. What happened to comprehensive peace with the Palestinians as a precondition?? Then we have Israel suddenly opening all the crossings into Gaza. Was a secret deal made with Hamas?? Did Jimmy Carter succeed in getting the Syrians to worky with Israel and Hamas to work with Israel?? Perhaps Jimmy Carters snub in Israel was a ruse to give him credibility with the Syrians and Hamas. Interestingly the concessions that would be made came from Hamas but were accepted by Israel, Jimmy Carter notwithstanding. Therefore Carters involvement was high profile but successful. |
