| When Israelis feel that they have their foot on their opponents neck, they are reluctant to change positions. This is the case even if the foot is not on the neck of their actual opponent, but rather on the opponents brother. Close enough. Or maybe the foot is on the opponents friend rather than the actual opponent. Still close enough. Neighbor? Close enough. Countryman? Close enough. The fact is that Hamas will not feel the shortage of a given supply until Gaza is completely empty of that supply. This means that cutbacks will always affect the poor and the working class before anyone else. This is not unique to Gaza. This is the way of the world and humankind. If Israelis think that, when they cut supplies, they are hurting Hamas, they are dreaming. The situation would never be allowed to get to the state which would hurt Hamas, since Hamas is the last to suffer. |
