| i agree with you that hamas` actions are stupid... in fact...somewhere in these talkbacks i`ve posed my ideas on how best hamas could serve the palestinian people. and i understand israel`s concerns regarding hamas. but i also understand that israel`s activities serve only to empower hamas...NOT to weaken it. why do you think hamas is attacking the "sources" goods and fuel for gaza. the reason is because the response they anticipate from israel is what fuels their popularity. israel has within its power the ability to completely defuse hamas...but in order to do so, it needs to outgrow its "bloodfeud" mentality. and yes...i DO realize that the palestinians possess the same... but israel is in a position where it easily afford to set that mentality aside...and if it were to do so...it would deflate hamas. every rise and fall in popularity for hamas has been the direct result of israel`s activities. the blockade has empowered hamas...every innocent killed empowers hamas...every denial of of opportunity empowers hamas, every hardship, untreated illness, pang of hunger...every negative thing that can be attributed to israel...empowers hamas. bottom line is that israel is better equipped to make the concessions necassary to attain peace...IF peace is what it wants. and by your reference to your "advanced" society, i certainly hope you don`t presume to imply that the palestinians are any LESS capable of being so...because success relies far more on opportunity than it does anything else. there are geniuses all over the world who are living "hand-to-mouth"...because they lack opportunity. so if indeed you DO consider your society more "advanced"; then you place yourself among some of the worst villains the world has ever known. have a nice day, "S". |
