The whole "humiliation" issue is something we hear much about from the Arab parties, and Ms. Durson apparently feels taken with it as well. However, anyone with a real commitment to human rights and humanitarian law, things Ms. Durson holds herself out to be in favor of, would feel humiliated to support this kidnapping.

After all, in contrast to those arrested by Israel, Shalit is being held for who he is, i.e., an Israeli, not for what he himself has done, i.e., nothing to warrant arrest. Moreover, even if one were to consider Shalit a POW, which Hamas claims to do, it hasn`t complied with its obligations, among them to permit visits by the ICRC, as are permitted to Palestinians held by Israelis even when they are not held as POWs but on a basis of personal culpability.
