It is *constant not occassional *the intent is to devalue and denigrate rather than simply state a complaint *the intent is to control and dominate rather than provide constructive criticism *the abuser has an overall attitude of disrespect rather than not just liking something specific you do.
EMOTIONAL ABUSE is such behaviour that is designed to subjugate another person through lies, fear, humiliation, verbal or physical assaults, constant criticism or blame, intimidation, blackmail, manipulation, gaslightning, refusal to ever be pleased. Emotional abuse wears away the victim´s self-confidence, sense of self-worth, trust in one´s own perceptions and self-concept. As a result the abused one clings to the abuser, because one´s self-esteem has hit the bottom and one feels afraid to be alone, which feels like one´s ultimate rejection: being abandonned. The abused bears the unbearable, because one´s
"hellish" life as abused by one´s "diabolic" abuser is better than being alone!
