| "Chafiff" is a term used in contemporary hebrew too describe an easy-going almost lacksidasical attitude. This is often the case with Law enforcement, where an Israeli stopped for speeding will spend an hour arguing on the side of the road with the police. It can be found in rather lax finishing in the building trade, and in the words of Meiman and Haaretz. Vanunu, signed an agreement when he took a job at the nuclear facility. He signed and agreed not to talk, not to take pictures, not to travel the world spreading his hate. He broke the law. Imagine what would have happened to him in China, Russia or Pakistan, if he had photographed their nuclear secrets and spread them around the world. Certain Death. But Israel does not have the death penalty, and thus found themselves playing chaffif with Vanunu`s lawyers and the press.
