Indeed, this is nothing but revenge-taking, and the worse because it is being done by the government of Israel, the Knesset. Israel cannot be counted as a western democracy, let alone a Light Unto Nations, with this sort of behaviour. It reduces Israel immediately to the stature of the killer. Even worse is Israel`s habitual cry of "we`re the victim!" while persecuting and killing the innocent survivors of the killer. I do not agree with his action, but it is not the Palestinians who are demanding to be considered a civilized western democracy--it is Israel, which is using, as you say, Jihad methods..
