| It will be very interesting to see what light the presence of a table instead of an altar sheds on the practices of earliest Christianity.As weel the fact that the asp faces east might be of interest as well. I would not a major source for early christians came from the group known as G-d Fearers, a rather large group of Gentiles who accepted Jewsih practice to varying degrees. They were considered defacto Jews by the authoritis and were accepted by Jews into their synagoges and communities. Early christianity with its strong roots in Judaism still showing was attractive to these G-d fearers who could participate fully in a new Israel without undergoing formal and full conversion to Judaism. Many of them however would go to church on Sunday but keep the kosher laws and celebrate Passover. They were an early bridge between the two worlds. Regards Danite |
