| Israels government certainly does have direction and is is multi level. First and foremost, Israel is continuing settlement expansion and also expansion into East Jerusalem. Olmert has fended off American pressure to stop expansion and make peace. The biggest event on the horizon is the nuclearization of Iran. Israel is preparing for Iran in several ways. There is not enough space to go into detail, but Israel is using every diplomatic tool, every shred of influence with America and EU nations, and every source of pressure at its disposal to stop Iran. Short of this, Israel is preparing to go to war with Syria and Hizbollah in order to take them out of the equation with the war to come with Iran.
