Human rights are universal, there is no way to pick and choose to whom human rights apply and to whom they don`t. Our opponents state that the whole state of Israel is a terrorist organization. Does this mean that human rights should not apply to Israeli population? Remember, one`s terrorist is someone`s freedom fighter.
It is of course natural to dehumanize your opponent in a conflict, to label them mad, terrorists, subhuman, and then state that human values do not apply to subhuman creatures, just as you imply, because saving humans, people is more important. This is fundamentally wrong. It is this thinking that led to numerous massacres in world history, including the one during the Second World War. |
