The Christian minority in Lebanon is the problem. It comprises perhaps only 35% of the population, but it is guaranteed 50% of the seats in the parliament, giving Christians an unfair advantage in a rather undemocratic system.

The only way Shi`ites can get fairness is to demand seats in the cabinet equal to their proportion of the population, and that`s what is going on now.
