Vanunu did his time, completed the full sentence. He is effect free from incarceration, yet the travel restrictions and equivalent to house arrest is still a form of incarceration. Either he served his time and is free, or he is still under arrest in which case he is entitled to certain rights.
Unfortunately paranoia in Israel runs hih and this is as a result of terror. vanunu will likely not ever leave ISrael except in a pine box, and that reality is miserable to contemplate. Either IOsrael adheres to the concept of crime punishement and atonment (serving time), or it does not. Either way he should be free and have freedom to leave ISrael as well. |
