You will never ever ever defeat Hamas militarily, for the same reasons that the IRA, FLQ, Irgun, etc. The only way to beat Hamas is by talking to them, and the only way to force them to lay down their weapons is to bring them into the political process. It serves no one any good, whether Israeli or Palestinian, to pretend that Hamas does not exist. They have already stated that they would be willing to accept a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders!! It`s time to get Hamas to act like a legitimate political party and the way to do that is to let them in from the cold and give them a seat at the negotiating table as members of the Palestinian delegation. |
