| It is easy to express a desire for a peaceful coexistence between the Israelis and the Palestinians. There are probably very few people on either side who would disagree with this concept. The devil is in the details. Will Israel evacuate the west bank settlements and make room for a Palestinian state? Ahhh, now we have a problem. I would guess that a large majority of Israelis would say no to this. If it were otherwise, then it would have happened by now. So .. we have two overriding factors. (1) Israel must evacuate all or most of the west bank settlements to allow for peace. (2) Israel is not willing to do this. Israelis are not willing to do this. This makes wishes for peace nice material for articles, such as Bradleys, but they have no basis in reality now, or in the forseeable future. Until some Israeli peace lover takes on the question of west bank evacuation and pursues it relentlessly, talking peace is a waste of time. |
