| This report contains many inaccuracies. First of all, I was in Beirut last week and took a stroll downtown and took a few pictures of the synagogue. Civilans are not "banned from the area." There were guards outside, but presumably that was to protect the property from being vandalized. No one bothered me as I walked around and took pictures. Secondly its really amazing when Zionists complain about the "disappearance" of the Jewish communities in Arab countries. Zionism worked for a century to destroy the Diaspora and bring it to Israel. Jews lived for centuries in thriving communities in Arab countries until Zionist nationalism turned them into "enemies" of Arabs. Speaking as an Arab and a Muslim, I would love to see our thriving Arab Jewish heritage restored to its greatness in Beirut, Damascus, Baghdad. Israel and Zionism destroyed the great Arab Jewish heritage, no one else. |
