You find the story in the Talmud on Sarah´s death from heart-attack as she learns from her servant that Abaham has left their camp to sacrifice Isac. Abraham had said nothing to Sarah about his intention and told everybody not to let Sarah know. Sarah however grew anxious and restless as she did not know where Abraham was with Isac, and a servant, who could not take Sarah´s appearant painful worry, told her. Such worry is fully normal to us women. SO: G-D had His sacrifice after all: Sarah! All my life I have wondered about the meaning of Isac´s sacrifice, such an insensitive and cruel request by G-D. Had G-D asked for this sacrifice from Sarah, she´d have replied to G-D:
"IF you dare ask me to kill my son, You no longer are my G-D. Forget it"! BUT G-D asked this from Abraham, because G-D knew his fickle heart and knew that he´d go for it. You see Abraham actually LOVED Hagar, Ishmael´s, his first-born´s mother, Abe later re-married after Sarah´s death, Ketura. HOW do we know this? |
