Eritrea has become a threat - "a threat of a good example", a beacon of hope in a continent filled with misery and despair, and where Africans, despite their abundant resources, because of corruption and greed, and most of all because of economic programs prescribed by self-serving external forces, have been relegated to live on handouts from the "generous" west. Eritrea is where the State of Israel was decades ago. The young nation is only 16 years old since the hard earned independence was won in 1993 from Ethiopia. In 1998, Ethiopia invaded sovereign Eritrea to "reverse" or to "undo" the hard earned Eritrean independence, and the war that followed claimed the lives of 123,000 Ethiopian soldiers and 19,000 on the Eritrean side. The UN`s failure to ask Ethiopia to withdraw from Eritrean sovereign territories has made the Horn of Africa one of the most troubled regions in the World. But Eritrea, the African Israel, will prevail against all overwhelming odds ! |
