| The one of the 3 religions that has today moved farthest from their historicla role, from their abusive use of power, of triumphalism and pride, seeking forgiveness and calling for reconciliation is Christianity. It has been able to do this for various rreasons, the most important being its loss of political power. Christendom had to die for Christianity to live. Both Judaism and Islam are still caught up in a worldview where revenge, vengence and toward the enemy is sanctioned. Judaism seeks its absoutes within the land of Israel, Islam in the world which is not yet Islamised. both attack each other as existential enemies. if only, in Jerusalem or Rome, the religous authorities, mavericks if you will could establish a center of relgious studies to serve as a fount for conflict resolution, fro inculcating respect for the other while remaining deeply committed to each religous tradition.
