Your comments remind me of the parable in the Zohar. A boor refuses to eat cakes and pastries, or even bread, because he will only eat wheat in the form of raw grain seeds. The Zohar pities his lack of beauty and transcendence.
There is more to modern life than money. Money is important (grain), but what we build with our money should be lofty (cake).
Beauty is spiritually powerful. Even banks know this. Banks spend money for impressive offices, seductive advertisement, and elegant calligraphy because beauty and glamor assure power. |
