Hmmm. I think the government should focus on managing its existing school better and making wiser choices about how it spends its LIMITED budget on education. Flushing hundreds of millions of shekels of taxpayers money down the toilet on yeshivas is an example why the school system is in such a dire condition. These kids learn nothing of value to a modern society and produce people that can only be counted as a net deficiet in per capita GDP terms. If public monies were spent on schools that guranteed an excellent degree of mathematics, foreign languages (including Arabic), sciences, computers, and history/social sciences then Israel can rest assured it will produce plenty of people who can sustain our society and make it progress economically and practically. All the dumb kids who can`t excel at any of these subjects (or art) can go learn in the yeshivas. The yeshivas should get the bottom of the pile of the secular system. |
