"But unlike other cultures, the Hebrew letter has been preserved continuously throughout Jewish history." Living in China for several years now, I can`t accept this statement. Chinese letters, preserved for about as many years as Hebrew ones, have long been and still are considered a primary form of art. Their preservation and variations in style throughout the millenia are symbols of Chinese culture, both secular and religious. Of course in China there is no question of the diaspora.
