| As a French, non jew, having a great sympathy with Israel, I feel that Gideon Levy catch something true. Leaders do not reflect opinion, and opinion in France, I cannot talk upon Germany or other european state is quite `doubteful` at least upon Israel. The images received are those of babies, women killed in Gaza, information is that of more that half of the people in Gaza living below level of poverty. In terms of image, Israel has lost as it losted the 2006 Lebanon war in term sof image, it is always better to be the victim and Israel is no longer perceived as being the victim. Now contrary to what Gideon Levy said, Sarkozy and all leaders have said to Peres that peace will be achieved only with ceasing occupation and settlements. And for those who claim that Hamas are terrorist, yes there are but what was the Fatah, now they are considered as reliable counterparts. The sole solution will be to discuss with Hamas, except if Israel envisage to kill all the Palestinians in Gaza strip? |
