| This is a solid fight between two Bavarian straight-talkers (Knobloch and Benedict) who won`t mince their words to say what they mean. It is helpful, that Knobloch, being a Jewish German from the same region and roughly the same generation, is in a position to demand responsibility in line with his German experience, rather than blaming his errors on the fact that he is German. Benedict has had to learn some painful lessons in inter-faith dialogue, e.g. with his Regensburg speech about Islam, but nevertheless, his approach seems to be dialectic: First pick a fight and at the hight of the tumult turn round and make friends... Having declared Protestantism "not a proper Church" we will be in for more similar quarells at different fronts. After all, I guess, Knobloch`s good old Bavarian-style whack may be the right method to win his ear. May be he is not so much a doctrinal hardliner than a Bavarian rascal. Well done, Charlotte.. |
