The Tora isnt just a religious document. Its a cultural artifact of an ancient aboriginal people, namely, Jews (and Samaritans).
Similar to how American aborigines point to burial grounds as signs of their attachment to their sacred ancestral land, Jews point to the Tora, to Jerusalem and so on, as signs of their attachment to their sacred ancestral land.
The Tora is a real estate document, of a kind, ... for a unique and remarkable aboriginal people ... who have a right to exist and to survive as a people.
American aborigines have a right to sovereignty over a sufficiant amount of land, as do Australian aborigines, and so on. So do Jews (and Samaritans) have a right to sovereignty over a sufficient amount of land in the Mideast. |
